Frequently Asked Questions

Hardwood Flooring

Why do my hardwood floors look faded or washed out?

Sunlight, foot traffic, and cleaning products can slowly dull your floor’s finish. Hardwood restoration can bring back its rich, natural look.

Can you fix water stains or minor warping?

In many cases, yes. Our restoration process can smooth out surface damage and eliminate stains, depending on severity and wood type.

Is hardwood restoration cheaper than replacing my floors?

Absolutely. Restoring your existing hardwood is more cost-effective and retains the value of your original flooring investment.

How long does hardwood restoration take?

Most projects are completed in 2–5 days, depending on square footage and condition. We’ll provide a timeline with your free estimate.

Can I change the color of my floors during restoration?

Yes! Restoration includes sanding and refinishing, which means you can select a brand-new stain color to better match your space.

How do I know if my hardwood floors need to be refinished?

If you see deep scratches, dull spots, discoloration, or worn-down finish—especially in high-traffic areas—it may be time to refinish. Floors that absorb water instead of repelling it are also good candidates for sanding and sealing.

Why is the color of my hardwood different under rugs and furniture?

That’s oxidation and sun exposure at work. UV light can change the tone of natural wood over time. We can help even out the color with a full sand, stain, and refinish treatment.

Can you change the color of my wood floors without replacing them?

Yes! Our hardwood staining services allow you to update the color during refinishing. Whether you're going darker, lighter, or more modern—we can help you get the perfect tone.

Is it better to buff or fully refinish my hardwood floors?

Buffing is ideal for light surface wear and restoring shine. If your floors have deep scratches, water damage, or uneven color, a full sand and refinish will provide longer-lasting results.

Can engineered hardwood be refinished?

In some cases, yes. If the wear layer is thick enough (typically 3mm or more), we can sand and refinish it. We’ll assess your floors first to recommend the right option.

Laminate Flooring

Can laminate flooring really look like hardwood or stone?

Yes! Today’s laminates use high-resolution imaging and embossed textures to replicate the grain and feel of real wood or stone.

Is laminate good for high-traffic areas like entryways or hallways?

Absolutely. Laminate is designed to withstand heavy foot traffic and is one of the most scratch-resistant surfaces on the market.

Can laminate floors get wet?

Laminate resists minor spills, but it's not waterproof. Avoid using it in bathrooms or areas prone to standing water. Clean up spills quickly.

What’s the difference between laminate and vinyl flooring?

Laminate is made with a wood-based core and offers more realistic wood textures. Vinyl is water-resistant and better for bathrooms and basements.

Do I need underlayment for laminate flooring?

Yes—unless your product comes with pre-attached underlayment. It helps reduce noise, adds comfort, and prevents moisture damage.

Tile & Stone

What’s the best tile for high-moisture areas like bathrooms or laundry rooms?

Porcelain is your best bet. It’s dense, non-porous, and resists moisture better than other tile types.

Does all tile need to be sealed?

Not necessarily. Many glazed ceramic and porcelain tiles don’t require sealing, but natural stone and grout almost always do to prevent stains and water absorption.

Can tile flooring crack?

Properly installed tile is incredibly durable, but it can crack if the subfloor shifts or if a heavy object is dropped. We inspect and prep your subfloor to prevent these issues.

Will large tiles make a small room feel smaller?

Actually, large format tiles can open up a space by minimizing grout lines and visual clutter. They’re often used in small bathrooms to make them feel bigger.

Is marble too soft for flooring?

Marble is more delicate than granite or porcelain, but with the right sealer and care, it’s a beautiful option for low-traffic or formal areas like entryways and master baths.

Vinyl Flooring

Can vinyl flooring go in bathrooms or laundry rooms?

Yes! Vinyl is water-resistant and perfect for wet areas—especially sheet vinyl and luxury vinyl tile.

Is luxury vinyl really better than laminate?

Luxury vinyl is more water-resistant and flexible than laminate, making it a better choice in bathrooms, basements, and high-moisture areas.

How do I know if vinyl is right for my household with pets?

Vinyl resists scratches, dents, and moisture—making it one of the best choices for homes with dogs or cats.

Will vinyl flooring look cheap compared to real wood or tile?

Not at all! High-definition imaging and textured finishes make today’s vinyl nearly indistinguishable from the real thing.

Can I install vinyl flooring myself?

Some vinyl products are DIY-friendly, but for large areas or sheet vinyl, we recommend professional installation to ensure a clean finish and tight seams.

Custom Rugs & Carpeting

Can I create a custom rug from any carpet in your showroom?

Yes! We can turn nearly any in-stock or special-order carpet into a custom-bound rug or runner.

What’s the difference between area rugs and custom bound carpet?

Area rugs are pre-made in standard sizes, while custom bound carpet allows you to choose the size, shape, and binding style for a perfect fit.

Can I use custom bound carpet on stairs or hallways?

Absolutely. We often create custom runners for stairs, hallways, and other unique areas that need durable, well-fitted flooring solutions.
